LSU v Troy

Where to start? I really don’t know what to say, that hasn’t already crossed everyone else’s mind. I feel as flat and unmotivated to write this as the Tigers looked when they took the field Saturday night. I guess I’ll take it half by half…this should be interesting.

The Wheels on the Bus
Never got a chance to go ‘round and ‘round…they just fell off. Offense, defense, special teams, coaching – it all fell apart in the first half. This sparks the thought – if the game started off by “falling apart” does that mean it we ever really had it together? Scary.

First Half
Deplorable. Terrible. Appalling. Dreadful. And the most appropriate synonym, UNACCEPTABLE.

First Half Defense
Swiss Cheese – the “big eye” kind. There were holes all over the place! Jarrett Lee could have completed passes against our D. For being fairly speedy, we didn’t look it.

First Half Offense
Non-existent. More like “offensive.” It certainly offended me. What a waste of time. It wasn’t even like we were trying something new and it just wasn’t working. We were running on first down, losing some yards, and putting a struggling quarterback in a position to have to make plays on third and long. Even after Troy built up a 14 point lead, we sat back and had no sense of urgency, no creativity, no drive. Poor coaching and terrible play calling, along with lack-luster execution equals me wanting that two hours of my life back.

Pick Six
I am so freakin tired of having to write about yet another pick six. Right before kickoff I commented to my uncle that this would be the game we’d break the streak. He chuckled and said, “Nope.” He wins. It has become very comical in a gut wrenching, high blood pressure, punch the wall sort of way. Why can’t we just push the returner out of bounds or something. Even a leg whip, which is illegal, would work, b/c at least he doesn’t score!

Charles Scott
Always a tough runner, and seemingly hard-worker, you can add emotional to the list. After Lee’s pick six, Tigervision showed Scott on the sidelines yelling it up at someone. Not sure who (maybe Coach Porter) or why, but I liked the frustration and emotion. Positive or negative, someone had to show some feeling, say their piece, and lead the team out of the seemingly insurmountable hole.

Halftime Talk
Supposedly Coach Miles implored the defense to keep the Tigers in the game until the offense could get going. Wow, that’s not comforting to know that you’re putting all your eggs in the basket that just gave up 24 points to Troy in the first half. Ah, well, you know what they say, if it works he’s a genius, if it doesn’t he’s the goat. We’ll just call him Einstein for now.

Second Half Defense
Way to turn it up a couple of notches in the second half. Minus Troy’s opening drive of the second half, the Tiger D played aggressive, solid and hard-hitting D. Blitzes, DBs closing hard and fast, fourth down stands and turnovers – who are you and what have you done with our defense! If we figure out a way to maintain that for 60 + minutes, we’re in business.

Second Half Offense
I’ve waited so long for our offense to click the way it did the last 20 minutes of this game. There are too many playmakers and too much talent for our coaching staff to not figure out a way to score points. Decent protection, open receivers, nice runs, and a calm QB in a pressure situation. Haven’t seen any of that in a long while – what a refreshing performance. I have to say I was a little annoyed that we had to settle for a FG following Chad Jones’ interception deep in Troy territory, but we’ll take the points and hand the game back over to the defense. Good Job O.

Nice Job Jarrett Lee
Now there’s something I haven’t been able to write every week…or ever. I’ve certainly bashed the kid a lot in the last few weeks, but fairly, I hope. Now, I get to fairly say – GREAT fourth quarter. You even earned a kiss from Coach Miles. Well done.

Not So Special Teams
You can’t even call this aspect of the team solid. They’re more like state workers – punch clock, make tackle (kick ball, block, etc), go to sideline. I know we have several starters or major contributors that play special teams, but other than just getting the job done, there’s nothing special about it. Fair catch here, 5 yard return there. No blocked punts from either side, ho hum…They did get the one fumble recovery when it bounced off of the Troy player, but it's not like they "caused" the fumble. This could be a real game changer for a team that is struggling on offense, but we’re not taking advantage of it. BTW – just kidding about the state worker thing. I know some of you work hard.

Punting
We have two punters and neither is setting the world on fire. If we didn’t have huge QB issues and a defense that’s soft at times, then we’d all be talking about the terrible punting.

Miles Takes the Blame
No, $#!& Sherlock. You should take the blame but I do give you credit for sticking with Lee. What I don’t like is the plays called and the positions you put the kid in. I know you have an Offensive Coordinator, but you have to over rule him when he sucks. And how about ripping up your precious O-Line for poor run blocking and pass protection in the first half.

Big 10 Football Anyone?
I’m not sayin’, I’m just sayin’: Was it just me or did LSU’s offense in the first half look eerily similar to that customary of a Big 10 offense? Run first (I’m ok with that), get bogged down, still run first, get behind by 14, throw a pick 6, run out the clock.

Just for Shiggles
LSU learned a valuable lesson against Troy. Jarrett Lee is a pocket passer (no surprise there) that plays better when in a hurry-up, two minute drill style of offense. So, just for shiggles, how about we come out against Ole Miss and let it rip FROM THE VERY BEGINNING, get the defense on their heels, get your QB and WR in a rhythm and cram it down their throats. Open it up, let these kids (and fans) have some fun! Finish this season strong and make a statement for next year.

Jordan Jefferson
He didn’t play as much as I thought he would, but he played a key role in getting Lee some thinking time on the sidelines following another pick six. He did some smart things, though he wasn’t super productive. With Hatch out, he’s the change of pace we were desperate for against Alabama.

Big Cheer
LSU had only two first downs in the first down. When they finally managed the third midway through the third quarter, the crowd (or what was left of it) let out a huge cheer. I guess with not much to cheer about up to that point, you’ll yell for anything positive to thaw out your jaws!

Historic Comeback
Comeback, yes. Historic, maybe by record book standards. But let’s but it all in perspective. We had to come back from 28 down in the second half against TROY. Not very historic in my book.

Freshmen on “D”
Did you notice Brandon Taylor getting some major minutes in the secondary. He and Peterson were involved in several key plays. It’s good to see these youngsters getting some significant minutes in their freshman year. It only bodes well for the future.

Colt David Misses an Extra Point
Were your toes frozen? Did you have frostbite or hypothermia? You better have b/c there is no excuse for missing an extra point in a game your team has fought so hard to win. Against any other team on our schedule (ok, so maybe just the SEC ones – and Arkansas doesn’t count), that miss costs LSU the game. Up two and with a tired defense, another team drives down the field and at least attempts a field goal to win the game. Good thing we’re playing Troy .

Williams, Murphy, Holliday
These guys better be in big trouble. B/c if they aren’t in any kind of hot water with the coaches, and they still aren’t getting playing time on offense, then shame on the coaches. If they are in the dog house, then shame on them. They are too talented to not be involved more than on special teams.

Karma’s a Kick
Just ask “Earl” or now Troy. Got pretty cocky and started acting a fool when you’re up by 28. Then the football version of the “K” lady, Karma, got the best of you. You have to be a gracious winner or it’ll come back to bite you. You gave up 37 points in about 20 minutes. That’s what you get for being cocky punks. If for no other reason than to put Troy in their place, I’m glad the Tigers won. Hope you’re a better loser than you are a winner.

Impressed with Troy
I know this is the converse of what I just said above, but I was impressed with Troy, until they got a big lead. Their offense clicked on all cylinders, and defensively they got a big push up the middle stuffing some runs and forcing us to pass. It’s a shame you had to start being sore winners.

Kudos to the Hard Core Fans
I didn’t have tickets to the game so I watched from my parent’s couch: warm den, in my PJs; 61” TV, hot food – perfect. That said, had I been at the game, I would have been long gone at half time! Fair weather fan? Nope. Cold weather fan? Hell no. Kudos to those fans that stuck it out to cheer the Tigers on through the comeback.

Angels in the Endzone?
I heard on the radio today that at some point in the third quarter, the students starting flapping their arms like the kid in “Angels in the Outfield” - conjuring up some heavenly help. Well, it worked. Very clever students – nice job.

Money Back
Not to be confused with “Sexy Back,” but we were singing the tune "I want my Money Back" from Cox, or at least half of it, when we wanted to turn off the game at halftime. I called my grandmother at halftime to tell her the score and her comment was, “And yall paid for that?” Yes, yes we did.

Ole Miss
They are going to whoop up on us if we can’t get it together offensively. I don’t want to lose to Nutt two years in a row.

Florida’s Fast 35 Seconds
Florida’s 21 points in about 35 seconds was very impressive. O, and so was the rest of the demolition of South Carolina. I’m going to title the impending SEC Championship game Bama Beatdown – clever, huh? Can’t wait to watch that game.

Independence Bowl
I had written the reigning National Champs off to the I-Bowl at halftime. We’ve lived to have another shot at the Cotton Bowl – whoopee.

Speaking of the Cotton Bowl
I heard a nasty rumor that the Cotton Bowl was moved to Jan. 2. Sure, 10 am New Year's day is a beating but I planned my vacation around potential LSU Bowl games, and the move is not good for me, as I will be on a plane coming back from Colorado at game time. Booooo…

Questionable Fourth Down
I have to disagree with Coach Miles (imagine that) that Troy’s coach should NOT have gone for that fourth and short at that point in the game. Punt, pin the Tigers, whose offense had been anemic at best, deep in their own territory. Who knows, maybe a pick six is coming your way! Worse case, the Tigers put together a 90-yard drive for a score, but eat up twice as much clock in the process. Yeah, a first down seals the deal, but as an underdog with the lead on a top 20 team, you kick it. But, I’m not a head coach.

Proud Parents
I know the Jones’ must be extremely proud of their sons regardless of how they play, but how cool do you think it was to watch Rahim put heavy pressure on the QB forcing a bad throw that Chad intercepts at a critical point in the game! (insert AAAAWWWW here)

Brandon LaFell
Welcome back to the offense. Sure we’ve struggled passing at times, but big players make big plays, regardless. Saturday’s performance was one of your best and we certainly needed it (kinda like we needed you to attempt to make a play on the ball in OT against Bama, but I’m over it). You’re a heck of a player, you just have keep playing like it.

Florida Coaching
Some Tiger fans may not like this, but too bad. Florida’s coaches are some of the best in the business at putting their players in the positions to make plays. Sure it doesn’t hurt to have a Heisman Trophy winner at QB, but they are creative with their personnel and their play calling to get the ball in the hands of the play makers. When something isn’t working, they have a solid Plan B. I really like this staff and will be happy to cheer for them the remainder of the year.

If I had to describe the LSU v Troy game in one word, it would be…
…Disappointing. Yes, for obvious reasons, but more b/c if you stuck with the game until the bitter end, you saw a totally different team, offensively and defensively, than we’ve seen all year. My disappointment comes b/c I saw the potential we have to be a great team and we just can’t sustain that level of play. Leadership, coaching, talent – not sure what the issue is but I hope we get it figured out soon.

T I G E R S
One of my LSU football rants wouldn’t be complete without a word about the cheerleaders that carry the TIGERS flags around the North End Zone every time LSU scores. I think I owe everyone a breakdown of why I think it is such a travesty to have the “I” flag not perform to the highest standard, and in turn offer a solution of what to do with the poor soul who just can’t cut it. First, anyone that bleeds purple and gold, or even cares slightly about LSU, knows the significance of the “EYE OF THE TIGER.” It’s even painted at midfield, for crying out loud. There’s even a song about it, so you know it’s gotta be important! That is why I tend to be harder on the one JV cheerleader assigned to carrying the “I” flag in the word TIGERS. It is imperative that the “I” of the TIGER be represented with the utmost reverence and a dogged pursuance of perfection when given the honor of carrying the flag. That being said, there have been a few games where “said carrier” we’ll call him “JV” has not performed to these lofty expectations. So, to JV I offer this solution: carry another flag. Not the “T,” it too is important as it sets the stage and tempo for the lap around the end zone. This person must be a prideful leader, not a good fit for our JV. See “I” explanation above. “G” – possibility. Though “G” does remind me of a tiger roar “Grrrrrrr” (just go with it people) and we can’t forget that at the Alabama game the “G” fell off the flag pole causing the TIGERS to never make their lap around the end zone – never mind, JV, too much responsibility. That brings us to “E” – I’m not personally attached to the letter “E,” but it’s a very important vowel, so I have to shy away from assigning this letter to JV. Next is “R.” Good solid letter that also goes with the tiger roar (three “Rs” in Tiger Roar). “R” really brings the word TIGER to a definitive close. Nope, this one’s not for JV either. That leaves us with “S.” Yes, this seems to be the best fit for JV. If you feel like slacking, doing a keg stand and slowing down, no worries, the other five flags already got the point across (TIGER). And, even if it’s held upside down or the flag is inside out, the “S” takes care of itself. So, in conclusion, move JV the slacker to the back of the line, to not disrupt the continuity of the statement made by the TIGER flags. The End.

LSU v. Bama 11.8.08

I wish there was more than just a Win column and a Loss column. What we needed tonight was a “we beat ourselves, so technically the other them didn’t beat us, so we should share the win” column. I cheered my heart out for the Tigers, from kickoff to when they exited the field when the game ended. It was a good hard fought loss.

I don’t want to insult your intelligence by stating the obvious, but I’ll start with the obvious, and throw in a few other tid bits.

The Obvious
We need a new QB.

Other Tid Bits:
Game Day
The fans showed up en masse, and were loud and proud. The signs were ok – I did like the return of the poster depicting that Sylvester the Cat and Lou Holtz were one in the same. The crew made the same picks I would have made, had I been a “neutral” sportscaster. I was glad to see LSU keep the game “closer than the experts think.”

To Kirk Herbstreit
You had some pretty strong words to share about why some LSU fans hate Saban…jealousy I think you alleged? Yes, we all know that his move to Bama was not directly following his coaching tenure at LSU, and that said fans shouldn’t take it so personally, but what you failed to mention is that after taking the Bama job, stories were reported that Saban proceeded to bash and trash the Tigers on recruiting visits, and in other “questionable” ethical circumstances. That leans more toward hatred, than jealousy. For you fans of “The Office”…“Let’s get ethical, ethical!”

Coincidence, I Think Not
We lost by six points…Lee threw his sixth “pick 6” in the second quarter. Coincidence…I think not!

Jarrett Lee
Bless this kid’s heart, but he is not a good QB. He is setting records, but to be leading the nation in “pick sixes” isn’t what the Tigers need. A small portion of my thinking (about 0.005%) likes Miles’ coaching decision to stick with the kid and let him grow, but the rest of me thinks he’s done. He’s had chance after chance and he is not progressing. Several first half throws were so far off the mark that even the other team couldn’t catch them. Sure, I know that three of the INTs were probably not Lee’s fault entirely, but the last one was, and it hurt. The OT INT was Lee trying to force a ball into tight double-coverage in a move to go from zero to here on one play. Let’s just stick with mediocrity. Positives: Lee ripped two REALLY nice downfield throws, one to Byrd for a TD and one to C. Mitchell that hit him on the hands and he should have reeled in. Hey coaches, if Lee throws down the field so well, where in the heck has that play been?

Coaching
SUCKS. I’ve been disappointed with play calling, making adjustments, and getting the ball to the right people all year. The D coaches had a much better day than the O. Crowton’s play calls bordered on questionable in certain situations, and the QB decisions make me crazy.

Defense
Holla. This group played a fantastic game from start until finish (not counting OT). The only think lacking was getting a little more pressure on JPW. In the end it really didn’t matter. They only gave up 14 pts in regulation to a very solid Bama offense. They forced punts and turnovers, and really put the team in a position to upset #1. Too bad the offense had to play too.

Best Game All Year?
Sadly, yes, this was the most complete game the Tigers have played. The Defense was very stingy and the offense ran the ball extremely well. Even the special teams did a nice job on coverage and forcing the fumble (sorry Colt, you missed badly). When put in the right plays, the pass game had a few nice plays, but bottom line is the Tigers didn’t get it done.

Largest Crowd Ever In Tiger Stadium
93,000 + were loud and energized! So the motivation for the raucous crowd may have been a little skewed at the beginning (Saban Haters), but they got behind the team and were just incredible when it counted. Best two parts were when the stadium divided in half and chanted “Geaux” “Tigers” back and forth, and when everyone started throwing it down.

Dan Borne
This guy practically read my mind. I was just thinking to myself, “Self, the sun has set and we now have a night game in Tiger Stadium,” when lo and behold, to start the fourth quarter, Borne announced that “the sun has finally he sun has found its home in the western sky."It's now Saturday night in Death Valley!" Very cool and great timing.

Student Section
Funny – on “Hey, Baby” the students changed the words to “Heeeeeeyyyyyy, hey Saban, I wanna knowooooo, if you’ll be my girl (or maybe another expletive).” Not so funny – following the game, the chants were not so nice and geared toward Saban. Come on kids, show a little more class than that.

Chad Jones, Chad Jones
The first big play of the game, a Bama fumble out of the end zone for a touchback, was caused by an incredible play by Chad Jones. Of course, in the pandemonium of the play, I didn’t see “live” what happened. When I saw the highlights on ESPN and saw the stretch and swipe by Jones, I was thoroughly impressed with the effort.

Blocked Field Goal
As several fans around me headed toward the exits following Bama’s final time out in regulation I did mention that they’d be sorry if Tiffin missed and we went in to OT. I did that a lot in this game – calling what was going to happen next. Anyway, that block was one of the most exciting plays I’ve ever seen. Too bad we didn’t capitalize. I guess those who left before the blocked FG were better off in the end!

Pandelirium
Ricky-Jean Francois’ block of Tiffin’s potential game-winning FG sent the stands, and me included, into complete pandelirium (you know, a combination of pandemonium and delirium. I for one was jumping up and down like a lunatic, screaming and hollering with the other lunatics, and I was so fired up that I grabbed my sister and shook her, then started slapping at her repeatedly. For the record, it’s all a little fuzzy. And I plead, “caught up in the emotion.”

Name of the Offense’s Favorite Play
It’s gotta be “3 and out.” They ran it over and over again, so I have to think it’s one of the favorites.

Patrick Pederson
Julio Jones wasn’t the only stand-out frosh on the field. And yes, Pederson gave up the 24 yard pass to Jones in OT, but he played really solid all night, mostly covering Jones and even got his first INT as a Tiger. We’ve got a bright future at corner with this kid.

Trindon the Decoy
We’ve gotten away from this play. Now it seems that every time he’s in the game on offense (ok, so that’s only twice a game, if he’s lucky) he actually gets the ball, instead of using him as a decoy on a reverse or something to free up someone else to make a play. Might want to put this back in the playbook.

C. Scott Run
As usual, Scott and his band of blockers took it to another supposedly stingy run defense. Scott and Keiland Williams racked up over 200 yards on this heralded Bama D. We certainly needed it with our pass game in shambles. Good job guys!

Chris Mitchell
Wow, so your HUGE drop didn’t really cost us the game (thanks to 4 INTs by J. Lee), but perhaps you could borrow J. Mitch’s baseball glove to reel in those kind of game-changing plays. Would have been a big catch and possibly a score, but it’s not all your fault.

OT
Did that really happen? Did we fight tooth and nail to get to OT only to throw an INT into tight double-coverage on third and four? Take the short game and live to see another day (grant it that day may be short and you could still die a quick but painful death, but give yourself a chance).

I Never Thought I’d Say This, But…
Where is Andrew Hatch when you need him? Yeah, I know he’s hurt and out for the year (probably), but it would have been a nice change of pace to have a QB that could be a multi-threat. Hey, the way our passing game looked tonight we would have been better off with Hatch throwing the ball too! Get well soon.

The Jefferson
If we’re going to salvage this season, and begin building for next year, Jordan should be “movin’ on up” the depth chart this week.

Post-Game Shows
So all of the talking heads on the radio want Lee out, and I don’t blame them. Lee did do a great job in post-game interviews. He seems composed, mature and positive – where is that mentality on the field?

Troy State
We’ve got them right where we want them. Actually, this rent-a-win couldn’t come at a better time, especially if JJ gets a fair share of the snaps.

“I” of the Tiger Update
Just in case you were wondering, the “I” was again replaced by a cheerleader that could actually keep up. Though after LSU’s first score, the “TIGER” flags didn’t make it out on the field – the “G” had some issues, the flag fell off the pole.

Golden Band from Tiger Land
Fantastic job. You kept the crowd in the game and fired us up when it counted. The shining moment had to be when you took the field at halftime, following Alabama’s “Million Dollar Band’s” terrible performance – they should get their money back. Bama’s rough lines, wacky formations and awful uniforms only made The Golden Band from Tiger Land look that much better – not that we needed it. USA, USA.

Tiger Players
Post-game, I was hanging out at a tailgate (with a laser light show - NICE) between the stadium and the player’s dorm and was able to congratulate a few players on a hard fought game. It was a tale of two sides of the ball, as Derry Beckwith smiled and thanked me for the positive remarks, and Brandon LaFell looked like a beaten puppy dog that had someone travelled across the country and couldn’t find his way back home. Which side of the ball do you think was happier with their effort…

Time to Move On
Ok people, it’s time to get over Saban coaching at Bama. Stop acting like a jilted lover that repeatedly talks about your ex until you drive people crazy. The best thing we can do is to cheer our team on to victory and not worry about booing the other team.

LSU de ja vu?
Bama’s season has resembled LSU’s 2007 run to the NC – except for the whole undefeated thing. Winning close games, pulling it out of you know where when necessary, with solid QB play, backed by a stingy defense. We know where that can get you.

Good Luck Bama
Yeah, I know that won’t be liked by all that read this (though I’m sure Mrs. Carroll loves it) but I do wish them good luck. They are in the best position to make it to the National Championship Game. How great would it be for the SEC to win three National Championships in a row?

LSU v. Tulane - 11.1.08

I am not motivated to write this blog. LSU's win over Tulane was so uninspiring that I would have regretted wasting my Saturday night at the game, if not for great tickets and nice weather! It's very hard to watch a team with talented athletes not improve at all over the course of the season. In fact, we seem to be regressing. Let's get back to the basics, coaches, to right the ship and steer us solidly in to the future.

"I" of the Tiger
Look, I know a cheerleader carrying a crooked flag is a non-issue to LSU's football season. But, he
re's where it becomes somewhat relevant. By comparison, the crooked "I" flag and our tumultuous season are very similar. Both seen to have lack-luster efforts combined with an inability to improve week to week. All parties involved continue to make the same mistakes, instead of going back to the basics and doing things the right way. Thought the "I" cheerleader did ok at the Georgia game - well, that's b/c it wasn't the same person. He was back at the Tulane game, with a vengeance...and this time, I have proof - see photos for examples of both crooked (top) and slow (bottom - the "T" flag is already on the ground "T.......IGERS")!

Defense

Sure you only gave up 3 pts to the Tulane offense, but I guarantee, that the late substitutions, blown coverages and costly pass interference penalties will surely come back and haunt us on Saturday. I beg you to play smart, assignment football, and just see what happens!

Whoa is the O... still
Not the first time the season I've used the "Whoa is the O" heading this season, but if the shoe fits... Penalties, bad snaps poor play calls - and that was just one one series. Sheesh. You never know who is going to show up. Scott had a great game, and Lee played steady...until...well, I'll talk about that next. I hope Coach Crowton is spending some late nights crafting an effective game plan for Saturday. I really think we're due for a smooth offensive game for once.

Pick 6...Yet Again

This has got to be some kind of record, right? The game was not pretty up to the point of the pick 6, but I certainly didn't think this would be the team that would continue the streak. Question: Does the defense keep running back the INT b/c our offensive players don't try to stop them, OR is Lee throwing these short passes right to the defenders, in stride no less, with no offensive players around? You be the judge, I don't care either way, but this has got to stop.

Booooooo...
So, I'm obviously not happy with Lee's continued charitable giving to the opposition, but when he took the field after the pick 6 I did not participate in the chorus of boos that rang out throughout the stadium (or what was left of it). I really felt bad for the kid getting booed by the home crowd like that. Come on LSU fans, let's try giving the kid some support and cheering him on - who am I kidding...this is SEC football at LSU and we are not that tolerable!

Cheers

Almost as bad as the booing was the wild cheering that went up when Jordan Jefferson took the field on LSU's last possession. It was like the savior stepped on the field and Beatle-mania erupted. This kid has played, what 6 plays all year, with one incomplete pass? I'm all about giving him a shot, and I hope that one of our QBs can step up and play savior, but calling for the true-freshman might be just as unbearable. But hey, I say give the kid a shot - it really can't get any worse!

Florida
What a whoopin'! I wish I could have watched more of the game. It seemed that every time I walked to a different tailgate and checked the score, the Gators had scored AGAIN! Talk about leaving with your tail b/t your legs UGA. Kudos to Florida for taking Georgia's celebration from last year and really using it against them. An eye for an eye...nah, how about turn the other cheek and score on them at will. Nothing says payback like running up the score. Mission accomplished.

Texas Tech
Snap. The Red Raiders took it to the former #1 team. The throw and catch to score the winning TD was impressive, not to mention the other 59 minutes of the game. I wish I could have watched more, instead of being bored to death in Death Valley, but I support my team, and wish TT well. That offense is impressive and with a little bit of defense and a splash of a running game (which they have) they will be dangerous. I know our DBs couldn't stop it...

#1

So, "the team that must not be named" heads in to BR as #1 - who would have thunk it? Like we needed more drama added to this game. Well, if LSU decides to play SEC football and beats "that team" this weekend, we might as well take down #1.

Game Day

Speaking of more drama...The boys from Game Day are headed back to BR. Here's hoping our fans act as good hosts, b/c we know that sometimes the "good" gets lost in fifths of Crown. Good luck finding somewhere to park after 8 am.

Bye Bye Fulmer
Tennessee gives Phillip Fulmer a big fat contract to start the season, then after eight games, he's on his way out. Surprised? You shouldn't be if you've watched them play this season - just ugly. He hasn't had a big name QB in a while, which pretty much sealed his fate. Whose next? My guess is ol' Tommy Tuberville at AU. Good riddance.

I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'
Maybe our co-defensive coordinators will leave to take a co-head coaching job at Tennessee - hey, a girl can hope!
